The CasparCG device controls a CasparCG playout server — commonly used for video playback and live graphics — using the AMCP control protocol.

Connection

The agent connects to the CasparCG server over TCP using AMCP. Provide the host and, if needed, adjust the AMCP port (commonly 5250).

Commands

The CasparCG device wraps AMCP playout operations, including:
  • Play, stop, pause, and seek
  • Load a clip into a channel (including background load)
  • Add, remove, and clear layers and clips
  • Run server-side macros and send raw AMCP commands

State

The device reports its connection state, including whether it’s connected and the server version it’s talking to.
