Fabl’s Teleprompter Mode transforms your finished script into a clean, on-screen reading experience optimized for on-camera talent. You control font size, line spacing, and scroll speed, and when the script is ready you can share a dedicated teleprompter view — no third-party apps, no copy-pasting into separate tools, no version drift between what the writer has and what the talent reads.Documentation Index

Switching to Teleprompter Mode
Open the Script in the Editor
Navigate to the rundown segment that contains your script and click Open Script. The script editor opens in its default writing view.
Enable Teleprompter Mode
Click the Teleprompter icon in the top toolbar — it looks like a display monitor with horizontal lines. The editor transitions to Teleprompter Mode, applying the formatting settings to the script immediately.
Adjust Display Settings
The Teleprompter Settings panel appears on the right side of the screen. Configure font size, line spacing, scroll speed, and text alignment to suit your talent and display setup. Changes apply to the view in real time so you can preview exactly what talent will see.
Review the Formatted Script
Scroll through the teleprompter view to confirm the text is readable and flows naturally. Make any last-minute copy edits directly in Teleprompter Mode — the editor remains fully functional.
Editing the script after sharing the teleprompter link automatically updates the shared view. Talent will see your latest changes the next time they load or refresh the link — no need to regenerate it.
Teleprompter Settings Reference
Adjust the following settings from the Teleprompter Settings panel to match your production environment and talent preferences.| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Font Size | Controls the text size displayed in the teleprompter view. Increase for larger screens or farther camera distances. | 36px |
| Line Spacing | Sets the vertical space between lines. More spacing reduces eye-tracking effort for talent reading at speed. | 1.8 |
| Scroll Speed | Determines how fast the text auto-scrolls, measured in words per minute. Set to 0 to disable auto-scroll and let talent control pacing manually. | 150 wpm |
| Text Alignment | Aligns script text left, center, or right in the teleprompter view. Center alignment is standard for on-camera use. | Center |
| Text Color | Sets the foreground text color. White on black is the default for minimal glare in studio environments. | White |
| Background Color | Sets the background of the teleprompter view. Black is recommended for most studio and field conditions. | Black |
| Mirror Mode | Horizontally flips the text for use with physical teleprompter mirrors and beam-splitter hardware. | Off |
| Margin Width | Controls the left and right margins as a percentage of screen width. Wider margins create a narrower reading column that is easier to track. | 20% |
Formatting Notes for Talent Readability
Well-formatted teleprompter scripts read more naturally on camera. Keep the following in mind when preparing a script for teleprompter delivery:Write in Short, Scannable Lines
Write in Short, Scannable Lines
Long sentences are hard to read at a glance on a scrolling display. Break complex sentences into shorter clauses. Aim for lines that a talent can read in a single breath. Fabl’s AI Assist can help shorten sentences — select dense passages and use the Rewrite tool with the instruction “shorten for teleprompter delivery.”
Avoid Abbreviations and Symbols
Avoid Abbreviations and Symbols
Teleprompter readers often parse text character by character at speed. Write out abbreviations (“mister” not “Mr.”), spell out numbers under 10, and avoid symbols like ”&” or ”%” in favor of “and” or “percent.” This prevents mid-sentence stumbles that break the on-camera flow.
Use Phonetic Spelling for Proper Nouns
Use Phonetic Spelling for Proper Nouns
If your script includes names, places, or technical terms that may be unfamiliar to talent, add a phonetic pronunciation in parentheses immediately after the word. For example: “Fabl’s CEO, Alejandro Reyes (ah-leh-HAN-dro RAY-es), announced today…” These annotations display in the teleprompter view but you can mark them as Prompt Notes so they appear in a different color and talent knows they are guides, not spoken text.
Sharing the Teleprompter View
The shared teleprompter link is device-agnostic and requires no login. Anyone with the link can open the full-screen view. To manage sharing:- Revoke a link — In the script editor, open Share Teleprompter and click Revoke Link. The existing link immediately stops working. Generate a new link to share a fresh one.
- Multiple links — You can generate separate links for different talent reading the same script (useful in multi-anchor formats where each person reads specific sections).
