The subtitle editor is a timeline-based tool for creating and editing captions against a video. It pairs a video player with a subtitle list and a visual timeline so you can sync captions precisely.

Load a video

Open the editor and load a video — either from a local file or from your media assets. When you open the editor from a video asset that already has captions, those captions load automatically.

Create and edit captions

  • Add a caption at the current playback position
  • Edit each caption’s start time, end time, and text directly in the list
  • On the timeline, drag a caption’s edges to change its in and out times, or drag its body to move it while keeping its duration
  • Delete captions you don’t need
  • Seek the video to a caption and play from it to check the sync

Validation

The editor flags common subtitling problems as you work, including minimum duration, line length and line count, reading speed, overlaps with neighboring captions, and gaps that are too small.

Import and export

You can import existing subtitles and export your work in standard caption formats, including SubRip (SRT) and WebVTT. When you opened the editor from a media asset, you can also save the captions back to that asset so they travel with the video.
