Every member of a Fabl workspace is assigned a role that controls what they can see and do. Roles are designed around common production functions: from full workspace control at the Owner level down to read-only access for stakeholders and reviewers. Assign the most appropriate role for each person’s actual responsibilities to keep your workspace secure and well-organized.

Role descriptions

The Owner has unrestricted access to every feature in the workspace, including billing and workspace deletion. There is exactly one Owner per workspace — the person who created it. The Owner role can be transferred to another Admin, but the transfer is permanent and cannot be undone without that person’s cooperation.
Admins can do everything an Owner can except access billing information and delete the workspace. Use this role for senior operations staff or production leads who need to manage integrations, configure automations, and oversee the team without having financial access.
Producers can create and manage shows and rundowns, assign segments to editors, and trigger exports. They cannot manage team membership, integrations, or workspace settings. This is the right role for show producers and production coordinators who own the content pipeline but do not need administrative control.
Editors can view and edit rundowns and segments that are assigned to them or open for team editing. They cannot create new shows, manage the team, or access settings. Assign this role to writers, segment producers, and content editors who contribute directly to rundowns.
Viewers have read-only access to shows and rundowns they have been granted access to. They cannot create, edit, or delete any content. Use this role for stakeholders, executives, or external reviewers who need visibility without the ability to make changes.

Change a member’s role

To update someone’s role, go to Settings → Team, click the menu next to the member’s name, and select Change Role. Choose the new role from the dropdown and confirm. The change takes effect immediately — the member’s permissions update on their next page load.
When onboarding a new team member, start them at the Viewer role so they can familiarize themselves with your workspace without risking accidental edits. Upgrade them to Editor or Producer once they are ready to contribute actively. This is especially useful for freelancers or contractors joining mid-production.
You cannot change the Owner’s role from the Team settings page. To transfer ownership, go to Settings → Workspace and use the Transfer Ownership option.
