Fabl can transcode your uploaded video into additional variants for delivery and playback. You define reusable transcoding profiles, then run encoding jobs that apply them to an asset.

Transcoding profiles

A transcoding profile is a saved set of encoding settings. Create and manage profiles from the transcoding profiles section, where each profile defines:
  • Label and description
  • Video codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate (with a constant or variable bitrate mode)
  • Advanced video options such as profile, keyframe interval, and B-frames
  • Audio settings — codec, bitrate, sample rate, and channels
Managing profiles and starting jobs requires the services management permission. See Roles and permissions.

Encoding jobs

To transcode a video, start a new encoding job: select the asset and one or more profiles. Each job shows its progress in a list with:
  • A job identifier and creation time
  • The asset name and the provider running the job
  • Status — queued, running, finished, or failed
  • Elapsed duration, updated live for active jobs
Failed jobs can be retried. When a job finishes, its output variants appear under the asset’s encoded versions, ready to download or use.
