The prompter is a full-screen, chrome-free teleprompter view of a page. It’s designed for talent: large type, distraction-free, and able to follow the show in real time.

Open the prompter

Open the prompter for a page to launch its dedicated full-screen view. The toolbar hides itself after a few seconds and reappears when you move the mouse to the top of the screen. Because the prompter has its own URL, you can open it on a separate prompter machine or display.

Controls

  • Play / pause scroll — start or stop auto-scrolling
  • Speed — set the auto-scroll speed
  • Font size — scale the text up or down for your distance
  • Color scheme — choose dark, light, or a custom background and text color
  • Mirror — flip the text horizontally for use with a beam-splitter prompter glass
  • Back to top — stop and jump to the start
  • Overview — open a panel to jump to any block on the page

Voice-controlled scrolling

The prompter can scroll in time with the talent’s delivery. Enable speech scroll and the prompter listens through the microphone and advances the text as words are spoken, keeping the read position under the talent’s pace without a manual operator.

Share a public prompter

You can give a prompter to someone who has no Fabl account — a guest presenter, a talent on their own device, or a screen in another room.
  1. Open the page’s options menu and choose Share Prompter.
  2. Turn on Share publicly.
  3. Copy the link, or open it in a new tab to check it.
Anyone with the link can view the prompter without signing in, and it updates live as the page changes. The shared view is read-only — viewers can read and follow along, but cannot edit the page. Turn Share publicly off to revoke access. The link stops working immediately, and turning sharing back on reuses the same link.

Driven by your rundown

During a live show, automation rules can control the prompter as you advance the rundown. Rules can send a block’s content to the prompter, clear it, reset it, focus a specific field, or start scrolling — so the right script appears automatically as each item goes on air.
