When it’s time to get your rundown off-screen and into the hands of your crew, Fabl gives you three export formats to choose from: a formatted PDF for sharing digitally, an Excel spreadsheet for further editing or data processing, and a print-ready layout optimized for physical distribution on set. Every export reflects the rundown’s current state at the moment you generate it.

How to Export a Rundown

1

Open the rundown

Navigate to Rundowns in the sidebar and click the rundown you want to export.
2

Open the Export menu

Click the Export button in the top-right toolbar of the rundown editor. A panel will open with format options and customization settings.
3

Choose your fields

Before selecting a format, use the Include fields checklist to control which columns appear in your export. Available fields include:
  • Segment number
  • Segment title
  • Segment type
  • Duration
  • Running start time
  • Notes
  • Cue points
  • Linked shot list name
Toggle off any fields your audience doesn’t need. For example, you might exclude cue points for a stakeholder copy and include them only for the technical director’s copy.

Select a format and export

Choose your desired format — PDF, Excel, or Print — and follow the format-specific steps below.

Export Formats

PDF export produces a polished, formatted document suitable for emailing to stakeholders, uploading to a shared drive, or displaying on a tablet on set.To export as PDF:
  1. In the Export panel, select PDF.
  2. Choose a page size — Letter (8.5×11”) or A4.
  3. Select an orientation — Portrait or Landscape. Landscape works better for rundowns with many columns; Portrait suits simpler rundowns.
  4. Toggle Include cover page on or off. The cover page displays the show name, date, target duration, and an export timestamp.
  5. Click Export as PDF. Fabl generates the file and downloads it to your browser automatically.
Portrait PDFs with fewer than six columns print cleanly on standard office printers. If your rundown has many columns, switch to Landscape or reduce the included fields before exporting.

Share Your Exported File

After downloading a PDF or Excel file, you can share it through any channel your team uses — email, Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a production management tool. For the most up-to-date version, share a link to the live rundown in Fabl instead of a static export whenever possible, so your team always sees the latest changes without needing a new file.
