Creating a rundown in Fabl takes just a few minutes. Once you’ve set up the basics — show name, type, date, and target duration — you can start adding segments and inviting your team. Every rundown you create becomes a living document that your whole crew can view and edit in real time.
1

Navigate to Rundowns

From the Fabl dashboard, select Rundowns in the left sidebar. If you’re inside a project, click the Rundowns tab at the top of the project workspace. You’ll see a list of all rundowns associated with your workspace or project.
2

Click New Rundown

Click the + New Rundown button in the top-right corner of the Rundowns page. A setup panel will open on the right side of the screen.
3

Name and configure your rundown

Fill in the core details for your production:
  • Rundown name — give it a clear, descriptive name (see the naming tip below)
  • Show type — choose from Live Broadcast, Pre-Recorded, Event, or Custom
  • Date — set the air date or production date for the rundown
  • Target duration — enter the total length of the show (e.g., 60:00 for a one-hour production)
These fields appear in the rundown header and are included in all exports, so fill them in accurately.
4

Add segments

With your rundown created, start building the structure of your show by adding segments. Click + Add Segment to insert the first row, then fill in:
  • Title — the name of the segment (e.g., “Cold Open,” “Guest Interview,” “Ad Break 1”)
  • Type — select from the available segment types (see below)
  • Duration — enter the planned duration in MM:SS format
  • Notes — optionally add production notes, talking points, or instructions for the crew
Repeat this step to build out the full rundown. You can drag and drop segments to reorder them at any time.

Segment Types

Fabl includes the following built-in segment types to help you categorize and color-code your rundown at a glance:
TypeUse it for
IntroOpening sequences, cold opens, and title cards
SegmentMain content blocks — interviews, features, demos
BreakUnscripted or buffer time between content blocks
OutroClosing remarks, credits, sign-offs
AdPaid advertising slots or sponsor reads
CustomAny segment that doesn’t fit the standard categories
You can rename Custom segments to match your production’s terminology. The label you enter appears in the rundown and all exports.
5

Save and share

Fabl saves your rundown automatically as you work — there’s no manual save required. To share it with your team, click the Share button in the top-right corner of the rundown, enter your collaborators’ email addresses or select them from your workspace roster, and set their permission level (Viewer or Editor). Your team will receive an invitation and can access the rundown immediately.
Naming convention tip: Include the show name, episode or date, and version in your rundown title — for example, Morning Brief – 2025-07-14 – v1. This makes it easy to find the right rundown in search, keep version history readable, and avoid confusion when multiple rundowns exist for the same show.
