# OnTheAir Video

> Play out from Softron OnTheAir Video - select playlists, cue and play items, skip forward, and read what is on air.

The **OnTheAir Video** device controls Softron OnTheAir Video playout, so your rundown can select the right playlist and roll the right item as the show advances.

## Connection

Provide the playout machine's **host** and **port**.

## Commands

| Command          | What it does                                                  |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Select playlist  | Selects a playlist by name, index or unique ID, and starts it |
| Cue item         | Cues and plays a specific playlist item, by index or name     |
| Skip next        | Skips to the next item on the active playlist                 |
| Get current item | Reads the item now playing                                    |

**Skip next** can be limited to live-flagged items only, so a rule advancing the playlist steps past anything not meant to go to air.

<Tip>
  **Get current item** returns what is on air rather than changing anything, so it can be used in a rule condition - for example, to only fire a graphic when a particular clip is playing.

## State and triggers

The device reports its connection state and raises a trigger when the connection changes.
