# Canon PTZ

> Control Canon CR-series pan/tilt/zoom cameras — drive pan, tilt, zoom, and focus, recall presets, adjust exposure and white balance, control tally, and power — with live state and triggers.

The **Canon PTZ** device controls Canon PTZ cameras, so a rundown item can reframe a shot or recall a preset without a camera operator.

## Connection

Provide the camera's **host**, plus the **user name** and **password** it requires. Leave **Model** blank and Fabl detects the camera itself; the available ND steps and white-balance modes differ per body.

## Commands

### Movement

| Command            | What it does                                                         |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Drive pan and tilt | Moves the head at a constant speed, independent of the angle of view |
| Stop | Stops pan and tilt movement |
| Go to position | Moves to an absolute pan/tilt position |
| Home | Returns the head to its home position |
| Zoom | Zooms at a speed, or to an absolute position |

### Presets

| Command                     | What it does                                          |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| Recall preset | Recalls presets 1-100 using the preset's stored speed |
| Recall preset at speed | Recalls a preset at a speed you choose |
| Recall preset over duration | Recalls a preset over a fixed time |

<Tip>
  Recalling **over a duration** is the one to use on air: the move takes exactly as long as you asked, so it can be matched to a transition regardless of how far the head has to travel.
</Tip>

### Picture

| Command       | What it does                                                                                                          |
| ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Focus | Drives focus near or far at a speed, moves to an absolute position, toggles auto focus, or runs a one-shot auto focus |
| Iris | Sets the manual iris, which switches iris to manual, or toggles auto iris |
| Gain | Sets the manual gain in 0.5 dB steps |
| Shutter | Sets the shutter speed by its denominator - 60 means 1/60 |
| ND filter | Selects an ND step |
| White balance | Sets the mode, or runs a one-shot auto white balance into set A or B |

## State and triggers

The device reports its connection state, model and power state, and raises a trigger when the connection changes.
